GENERAL

Last updated: January 31, 2024 07:49

How big is the box?

It’s a standard 30X30X7 cm box and weights just under 2kg. The box dimensions and weight are the same for the Standard and Premium Editions. The miniature box will be smaller, 15X15X5 cm is our current estimate.

Last updated: January 31, 2024 07:49

Will the box accommodate sleeved cards?

Yes, we made sure there is a comfortable space margin in the card section.

Last updated: January 31, 2024 07:49

What are the card dimensions for sleeves?

There are 106 standard Poker Cards (63X88mm) and 31 standard Tarot Cards (70X110mm) in the game.

Last updated: January 31, 2024 07:49

Where is the game manufactured?

All our game parts are manufactured within the EU. The paper and cardboard components will be produced in Poland by Fabryka Kart. The miniatures will be produced in Spain by Alemany Miniatures.

Last updated: January 31, 2024 07:49

Are you using any AI art in your product?

No, all our board game art assets were human-made by multiple artists specifically for this project. In the case of the video game, the maps and models were purchased from Unity Asset Store.

Last updated: February 21, 2024 03:15

Are the miniatures grey or colored?

All our minis are produced in color: Humans – Navy Orcs – Dark Green Demons – Dark Red Elves – Brown Monsters – Anthracite

So if you don’t feel like painting the miniatures – then you’re all set!

GAMEPLAY

Last updated: January 31, 2024 07:49

Is there a solo mode available?

Yes! You can play the game on your own – the board game’s version includes a 10-hour storybook while in the video game you will follow a 5-hour campaign. The latter is shorter because we can automate more events. More campaigns are planned to be made available in the future – including the story from the Demons’ POV!

Last updated: February 20, 2024 01:16

What were your main influences in creating the game?

We love fantasy games and RPGs. The game’s main inspiration comes from DnD and Das Schwarze Auge. In terms of the mechanics, there are influences from Warcraft 3, Mage Knight, Warchest, and Gloomhaven.

Would younger kids enjoy the game?

In our age guideline we’re following the PEGI and ESBR notation for content, which we conservatively determined to be PEGI-12 and ESBR-10, respectively. Boardquest is a skirmish game in which the conflict takes the central stage however there are no depictions of blood or violence in neither versions of the game. Death or killing do not exist in Boardquest: the characters are simply damaged or defeated and then removed from the game. In terms of complexity, our estimate is that a 12 year old should be able to grasp its intricacies – but a 10 year old will certainly have fun with the simpler rules, too!

CAMPAIGN

Last updated: February 20, 2024 01:16

Why are there no stretch goals?

We considered adding stretch goals to the campaign but eventually decided against it. We cannot add more components to the base game: the game design is complete and play tested so we would be risking to throw things off balance. Component upgrades add risk too – time to develop and prototype, plus financial – which could endanger the delivery date and budgeting. Post-campaign, if we identify features that may improve the overall game experience we will be sure to incorporate it in production.

Last updated: February 20, 2024 01:16

What's the difference between the Standard and the Premium editions of the game?

It’s basically a choice between standees and plastic miniatures. There are 35 characters total in the game. The miniatures are more expensive to produce which is reflected in the price. Both versions are fun to play, but we do recommend getting the Premium for the full immersion – the plastic minis are AWESOME.

Last updated: February 20, 2024 01:16

Where can I choose my language option?

You will be able to choose your preferred language in the Pledge Manager, after the campaign.

Last updated: February 20, 2024 01:16

Are the plastic miniatures DnD-compatible?

Yes! The minis use 28mm and 32mm bases. You can re-use them in your DnD adventures. Just make sure they come back to their original box!

Last updated: February 20, 2024 01:16

What add-ons will be available?

Add-ons will be made available through our Pledge Manager (Backerkit). You will be able to order additional game copies (digital or physical) or the miniatures pack. Retailers will be able to order more game copies (in batches of 4).

Last updated: February 20, 2024 01:16

How do you plan to distribute the funding between the board game and the video game?

We will assign the funds to the game versions proportionally to the funding received by each.

SHIPPING

Last updated: February 20, 2024 01:16

When will I pay for the shipping and VAT?

The shipping cost will be calculated and charged in the Pledge Manager to represent the most accurate costs at the time of shipping. You will be charged for VAT at that point as well.

Last updated: February 20, 2024 01:16

Will I have to pay any customs charges?

We offer EU-, UK-, Canada-, and US-friendly shipping. The backers in those zones will not be subject to any customs duties. For the countries outside of the coverage, customs fees may apply as per your country’s regulations.

Last updated: February 20, 2024 01:16

I don't see my country on the list. Do you ship anywhere?

At the moment we can only offer shipping to selected countries. Our fulfilment hubs are in the US, UK and Europe. Everywhere else would be very expensive to ship and challenging for our small team to manage.

Last updated: February 20, 2024 01:16

I'm a retailer. Do you offer retailer discounts?

Yes, see the Retailer Pledge.

Last updated: February 20, 2024 01:16

Does the retailer pledge include the Minotaur?

Yes. The Minotaur miniature is a Kickstarter special and will be discontinued once the game goes to retail. However, we want to show appreciation to the retailers supporting us from the start and given these are typically very small orders, the Minotaur will be included in every box.

Last updated: February 20, 2024 01:16

Do you need to have the video game to play the board game?

No, these are standalone products.

Last updated: February 20, 2024 01:16

Will add-ons increase the overall shipping cost for me?

Most likely – yes, and most likely – by very little. You will be able to see the estimated shipping costs for your total order in the Pledge Manager before making the final decision.

FUTURE PLANS

Last updated: February 20, 2024 01:16

Will the game go to retail? What will be the price?

It is our long-term strategy, however we do not have any retail contracts in place.

Last updated: February 20, 2024 01:16

Do you plan to release the game in other languages other than English, German, and Spanish?

Currently, we offer the game in English, German, and Spanish. We hope to be able to localize the game in many more languages in the future. Follow us on our Social Media channels and BGG to get the latest news on Boardquest development!

BackerKit FAQ

What is BackerKit?

BackerKit is a service that crowdfunded project creators use to keep track of hundreds to tens of thousands of backers—from shipping details, pledge levels, preferences and quantities, whether they have paid or had their card declined, special notes, and everything in between!

The BackerKit software and support team is independent from the campaign’s project team—BackerKit does not handle the actual reward shipping. For more information about the preparation or delivery status of your rewards, please check the project's updates page.

How does BackerKit work?

After the campaign ends, the project creator will send you an email with a unique link to your survey. You can check out a walkthrough of the process here.

I never received my invitation. How do I complete the survey?

The most common reasons for not receiving a survey email is that you may be checking an email inbox different from the email address you used to sign up with Kickstarter, Indiegogo or Tilt Pro account, or it may be caught in your spam filter.

Confirm that the email address you are searching matches the email address tied to your Kickstarter, Indiegogo, or Tilt Pro account. If that doesn’t work, then try checking your spam, junk or promotions folders. You can also search for "backerkit” in your inbox.

To resend the survey to yourself, visit the project page and input the email address associated with your Kickstarter, Indiegogo or Tilt Pro account.

How do I update my shipping address?

BackerKit allows you to update your shipping address until the shipping addresses are locked by the project creator. To update your address, go back to your BackerKit survey by inputting your email here.

When will my order be shipped, charged or locked?

That is handled directly by the project creator. BackerKit functions independently of the project itself, so we do not have control of their physical shipping timeline. If you want to check on the project’s status, we recommend reading over the project's updates page.

I completed the survey, but haven't received my rewards yet. When will they arrive?

As BackerKit does not actually handle any rewards or shipping, the best way to stay updated on the shipping timeline would be to check out the project's updates page.
